FAQs

  • Actual length of Medicare coverage is determined by your progress in alignment with CMS criteria.

  • For those with commercial insurance plans or Medicare Advantage plans, the stay is case managed by the insurance company or their representative vendor. These case managers review clinical information and determine whether the stay meets skilled clinical standards for continued coverage.

  • This seems to be a very common misconception. However, the Medicare and Medicare Advantage regulations are very clear.  A patient is eligible for UP TO 100 days in a rehabilitation facility. Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans require that measurable improvements are being made during the stay AND “daily skilled care that can only be provided in a facility”, is required.  Once a resident no longer requires  daily skilled care, as defined under the Medicare rules, or the resident has stopped making measurable progress either because they have achieved their previous level of function or have plateaued with their progress their short-term stay must end.  We will assist you and your family with setting up home care and therapy at home in accordance with your insurance benefits.

  • In accordance with Federal and State regulations a skilled nursing facility is not allowed to use restraints or alarms in an effort to prevent falls. Studies have shown that the use of these restraints or alarms can actually harm a resident causing injury, strangulation and/or reaction that would cause the resident to fall when they otherwise may not have.

  • We are obligated to follow the W-10 from the hospital when you are admitted here. If you have questions or concerns about these medications please feel free to discuss it with our APRN or nursing staff.

  • A)       Admission to our facility under short term rehabilitation is for a finite period of time.  Once you have reached your maximum level of function or no longer require skilled care as defined by Medicare you will move  to the next level of your rehabilitation. This will involve nursing and/or therapy services in the home as approved by your insurance company.

  • You have two options for laundry at our facility.  Laundry can be done at the facility or can be taken home and laundered at home.  PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL CLOTHING IS LABELED WITH AN INDELIBLE MARKER OR LAUNDRY MARKER.  If you have ever put two socks in the washing machine and only found one out of the dryer you can start to understand why we cannot be responsible for items misplaced or damaged in our laundry.

  • If and when the time comes to make a decision regarding palliative/hospice care our social worker can assist you. We offer several choices of Hospice companies and options regarding palliative care. Your loved one may remain in the facility, comforted by their familiar caregivers and surroundings, while receiving these services.

Therapy Department FAQs

  • The amount and frequency of therapy you will receive is based on multiple factors including; your medical diagnosis from the hospital, your prior functional status and your current functional ability, as well as the Physician’s therapy orders and your Insurance Company.

  • You should have proper, comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and appropriate sneakers or shoes that you might wear for walking or exercising at home. You do not need to bring any adaptive or assistive devices that you use at home unless our therapy team requests it.

  • For you to be successful in rehabilitation and for your insurance company to continue to cover your stay, your participation and progress in therapy sessions is required. The focus here is on recovery and rehabilitation. You will actively participate in therapy sessions and actively participate in your nursing care. You will be out of bed, if medically able, for a good part of the day. You will actively participate in your bathing, grooming, and dressing each day.

  • Decisions about care and discharges are made by our inter-disciplinary team, consisting of you, the physician, the nursing and rehabilitation staff and your insurance company. In the end, your insurance company will make the final decision as to whether you meet the requirements for inpatient skilled services or if you can progress to services provided in the home.

Your insurance company will only provide 48 hours advanced notice of their decision. Planning for discharge on the day you are admitted is the BEST way to be prepared.

  • The short answer is maybe. Hospice and therapy are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Therapy must be ordered by the physician, approved by hospice and have very specific goals. Therapy services under hospice would be on a very short-term basis.

  • The answer is no. Someone must pick you up from the facility on your last day. Clearance for driving must come from your physician or specialist and obtained after you have discharged from the facility.

What Our Residents Are Saying

  • “First time ever in a rehab facility and I picked an amazing place. I wish I could remember every name, but everyone who set foot in my room was wonderful, kind, helpful, funny, knowledgable, etc. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the care I received. Oh, I almost forgot the best part, the food was always delicious!”

  • “I was very afraid to send my mom anywhere, but Orange Rehabilitation came highly recommended and I am so thankful. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was so attentive and helpful. From the nurses down to the cleaning crew, all were exceptional. I'm so grateful to all of the wonderful staff who cared for and loved my mom. It made a bad thing a great thing.”

  • “We couldn’t be more complimentary if we were paid to give a positive review. Thank you to all the staff from the aides, cleaners, dietitians, therapists, nurses, social workers, etc. Sending you all much love.”

  • “The care I received was outstanding. Everyone works together and is very attentive. The staff is extremely kind, even with those whose mental faculties are diminished. The care factor is very consistent and thorough, which is not easy. I believe I would not have had the recovery that I did if not for these dedicated people. There will always be a special place in my heart from my experience here.”
